“A Fortune Teller Once Told Me…”

There’s something magical about California—its palm trees, the ocean breeze, and, of course, the quirky little shops scattered along its streets. Back when I lived there, I had my share of moments where I’d wander into places I hadn’t planned on visiting. One time in Santa Monica, I spotted some dresses blowing in the wind outside a cute little shop. Naturally, I stopped to take a look.
Inside, it was so much more than a clothing store. There were crystals, incense, books, and everything that screamed new discoveries. At the back of the shop, there was a fortune teller. Curious and, honestly, a little bored, I asked for a reading. I didn’t know what to expect—was this about to be some cosmic scam, or could they really see into my future?
I didn’t go in with serious questions at first. I wanted to know if I’d make it in the music industry. Would my songs be hits? Would the world ever hear my voice? And, no matter who I went to, they always had something positive to say. They’d give me hope—hope that my creativity and hard work would lead me somewhere big.
But then, I started asking different questions. I’d always been curious about love, about the person who’d stand next to me on the journey. I knew I’d be busy doing great things professionally and creatively, but I couldn’t help but wonder—who’s coming with me? Who’s my plus one to the big events and quiet celebrations?
I remember one reading so clearly. A fortune teller looked at me and said, “Honey, he’s not here. He’s not in America. He’s across the water.” I laughed at the time, brushing it off as something dramatic and cinematic. But later, I started thinking about it.
Back home, I’d stare at my vision board with all the places I dreamed of visiting—London, Barcelona, Ibiza. I’d been to these places before for work, hopping between studios and sessions with producers. But I’d never gone just for me.
So, I decided to change that.
That’s how I ended up here, in Paris—the city of love. Maybe the fortune teller was right, and he’s somewhere overseas. Or maybe this is just me, learning how to be, discovering what it means to live for myself. Either way, I’m here, dressed in red, soaking in every bit of this moment.
Who knows what’s next? Maybe I’ll run into him. Or maybe I’ll just run into a better version of me.
